“How great would it be to combine writing with yoga?” That was my exact thought when I heard about a writing and yoga camp at Asphyttan Metta House. To me, it felt natural to put this year’s educational budget on it! I love writing and write a lot at work, but never any fiction. My expectation before attending the camp was mainly that I would be inspired start writing fiction again, because I rarely do it anymore. In retrospect, I can say that the camp lived up to and exceeded my expectations. Here are five things this writing camp taught me:
Last year I visited YEoS (Young Entrepreneurs of Sweden) annual congress. YEoS is a network of 200 young Swedish entrepreneurs who all have a dream to build something bigger than themselves. At this year’s annual congress, it was one presentation that affected me more than others. It was Johannes Hansen, Sweden’s foremost mental trainer, who talked about stress. I made lots of notes! He has picked up the tips by working with high achievers in sports and business, focusing on their stress and rehab programs. Below, I will tell you how I have implemented them!
Working with social media is almost synonymous with always needing new pictures. As a consultant, you quickly notice that the availability of materials varies tremendously between different customers. Some are provided with global support, others are good at arranging photo shoots themselves, and a third uses stock photos almost exclusively. However, in all those scenarios, situations have arisen where we need a certain type of image that does not exist. That is why we have organized many photographs – and gotten pretty good at it. Switching tasks is one of the most time-consuming things we can do. When you are a consultant, this becomes even more evident, as you not only need to change tasks in many situations – you also need to change clients. To make these transitions go as smoothly as possible, I work with a few different tactics. One of them is that I have a bookmark folder for each customer, which I can use to open relevant tabs in one click when I switch to that customer. This way, there will be much less time used to context switch between customers, as a lot of navigation disappears. I will explain how this works, step by step.

Tons of studies show that switching between tasks is one of our most time consuming tasks. As a consultant this is bad news, as my job requires both switching between tasks and clients. When handling email this become more evident than ever, as opening my inbox usually means facing a lot of different tasks and clients. Therefore I’ve begun to work with email labels and direct links to them, to become more efficient. So far it’s working great. Let me start from the beginning.
